The program involves visiting people living with HIV/AIDS at their homes for the purpose of extending continuum care and support. Personalized services such as supply of basic needs, psychosocial counseling and friendly talking are here given priority.

About 700 people living with HIV/AIDS are reached and served per monthly by 92 KIHUMBE community based home based care service providers among them 6 are par time employees and 86 volunteers.

Most of the visits are made on foot and only few use bicycles and motorcycles and especially when there is something heavy and huge to be delivered.

Clients under HBC services are invited for monthly educational meetings at KIHUMBE’s nearest offices centre where they also discuss other economical, social and health related issues.

For the purpose of strengthening their economic status, a number of income generating activities such as, livestock, soap and batik making, tailoring and gardening have been introduced targeting interested PLWHA to be engaged and hence establish reliable source of income.
