PROFILE & PROGRAM:

1. Orphans and Vulnerable children (OVC)

KIHUMBE defines an orphan as a child of age below 19 years who has lost one or both parents, being for any course.

So far KIHUMBE has registered and serving more than 700 children and majority of them have lost their parents through HIV/AIDS.

All orphans supported by KIHUMBE are served under home based care approach whereby children are retained within their respective community intending to make them maintained their original culture, norms and attitudes.

KIHUMBE orphans are categorized as follows,

  1. Before school (of age below 7 years)
  2. In school (started schooling at any level)
  3. Out of school (old enough to be in school but not in school/left school for any reason)

Services provided to each orphan varies according to the need and requirement of the particular category the orphan belong to.

Services packages rendered to orphans and vulnerable children includes basic needs such as, food, clothes and shelters, school fees and related materials and psycho social counseling.
